The Sedona Shootout and Finding Inspiration

I'm dividing this latest blog into two parts (the title helps to explain) and probably will only get to the first part because it's getting late but I'll most definitely finish up tomorrow!

The Sedona Shootout!

Most Flagstaff winter morning's welcome me with a fine, crisp, and biting cold that seeps into my bones. This 5 degree morning was no different as I made my way out of my house - my own fortress of warmth - and into my car to make the quick journey to Sedona for our much anticipated time trial. Thankfully, Sedona is God's way of offering refuge for weary frostbitten Flagstaff runners and it was a beautiful day, 50s and clear skies, paradise in the middle of winter.

Sedona Shootout (#1)!

We have a bit of fun sprinkled in this week's training (not that every day doesn't have it's fair share of frivolity!) with the inaugural Sedona Shootout. Those of us not competing in this weekends Indoor Championships or coming off the Houston Marathon will run either an 800 or 1500 time trial tomorrow morning down in beautiful Sedona.

Lindsay Allen
Everyone's spirits seem light heading into this workout/rust buster and I'm pretty stoked to hit up a 1500 again. Jordan will be riding the train hard in the 800 to start the day but pledged to be a good pacer for me (what a great training buddy!). Joining Jordan will also be Erin Bedell as they make up the duo competing in the eight, while I'll be joined on the line by Lindsey, Danielle, and Jaime. The weather looks to be holding up after a few days of heavy snowfall so all looks good heading into tomorrow!

Jordan Horn
Hopefully we can add even more inspiration for Brauny and Scotty Smith heading into their big USA Indoor weekend with some fine performances tomorrow! Stay tuned!

Cross Country Nationals Wrap Up

Cross Country Nationals wasn't the best race I've ever run nor was it the worst, but it wasn't something I can say I'm proud of. It was fantastic to be home again and racing in front of so many familiar faces with every level of support I've ever been blessed to have. Unfortunately I didn't take advantage of the opportunity like I had envisioned.

Every athlete will come across many obstacles over the course of their career and I'm no different. The satisfaction of a breakthrough when you overcome your obstacles is part of the fuel that drives us to reach new levels. I'm happy to have had the experiences I've gained so far in my young career and moving forward I know that I'm taking steps in the right direction to realizing my goals.

Stay tuned for more updates, the last few weeks have caught me being lackadaisical but I'll try and keep things fresh!
